The architecture of 17th and 18th century Holland influenced English cabinetmakers who wanted to gain recognition from the ruling families, many of whom were of Dutch ancestry. Our walnut bureau bookcase reflects buildings of the time with distinctive half round crown often seen over bell shaped gables of houses facing Amsterdam canals. Many houses still stand, testaments to this enduring style.
